Granny squares and thrifting!

I'm into crocheting again! My grandma taught me how to crochet when I was little, so I could make my own Barbie outfits. And now I'm into making granny squares. I have enough for a pillow cover now, but maybe I'm going to make some more for a plaid! Another thing I'm totally into is thrifting! I bought some old chairs that go with my old wooden table and a super cute vintage pillow. I love old stuff!

Spiritual blueprint

After a very long break I finally created something again. I had to do an art piece on the outcome of a spiritual blueprint a fellow student of mine tested out for me. It was an assignment for the course I'm taking at the moment. Next Friday I'm doing my final tests and after that I'm a N.E.I.-therapist! Yaaay! If I pass the test that is....but I'm sure I will!

Taking a break

As you might have noticed, I'm not very much into blogging at the moment. I'm taking a break on blogging. I want to spend as less time on my computer as possible. I enjoyed life without a pc in Bali and Peru very much, so I've decided to continue that in Holland as well. Well not entirely without a PC, but I'm going to cut down on computer hours.
At this moment I'm spending all my time on my education and my free time doing other fun stuff that does not involve a computer :-)!

I'll let my blog sit for a while, since I might want to pick up the blogging in the future. But for now I say "goodbye"!

Art Specially for You Event

At 9.00 AM I'm driving to The Art Specially for You Event with Klaartje and Anita. Normally we have a booth there for my shop, but since I closed up on March 31st, Klaartje and I have the time to be guest at the event for a change. Yaaaay!
We're going to do a lot of make-and-takes at the event. So I'll show you what we made and bought later on this week! :-)

Made a card inspired by the catalog image I took from an Anthropologie catalog. Great store by the way. If you are visiting the US you should definitly visit one. The decorations in these stores are fenomenal and inspirational! Great design! Too bad we don't have Anthro in Holland....

I really love to use the Toast catalogs in my stuff! I saw Kara use them some time ago and after I'd ordered my first copy last summer I was hooked. I use the pictures for scrapbooking, card making and in my art journals. The new Toast Spring 2009 catalog is out. You can order the catalog online but you can also print the catalog images from their website (and resize it to the size you need). I love their yummie photography and the paper quality is just perfect.

Today I feel like reading!!! I have a few new books that I'm excited about and I borrowed some interesting magazines from the library and my sister in law gave me a cool book about aura reading.... All these wonderful things to fill my brain and to soak up. I'm now reading all of them at the same time. I switch every few pages :-)!

I haven't been able to find a buyer for my store. Since I have some other new good things waiting for me, I've decided to close the shop next year. So we will have a big SALE starting on december 16th in our store in Veghel and on the online shop. I'm not sure when the doors will be closed, but it will be sometime next year.
My plans:

I would like to have kids somewhere between now and when I turn 40. I'm not pregnant by the way..... Seems that rumor was going around :-)!
I'm now studying to be a N.E.I.-therapist (N.E.T. in Englisch) and I'm also doing another education on Medical Knowledge. I'll graduate in July for the first one and in December for the second one. And then I can start my own practice as an A-licensed therapist and start helping people to be happier in life! Can't wait!
I'll still be scrapbooking and cardmaking!!!!!

But for now, I'll still be at the store! :-) Hope to see you there. If you want to know more about the sale. Check our website!

Yesterday I went to see Roísín Murphy in concert at the Heiniken Music Hall. She was soooooo COOL! All kinds of ridiculously artsy outfits (I couldn't find any picuters of those yet, but I'll show you later on). Carla and I stood front row in the middle. Couldn't be better! Here's a little footage of Carla giving Roísín a waxed rose (She's such a groupie :-)! Hahaha!). After that Roísín went crowd surfing right were we stood!!! We loved the concert and where on a happy high on the way home.

of "So you think you can dance"-Timor Steffens! He's one of the male contestants in the Dutch version of this great dance competition. Last week the life shows started and he did a great routine together with Annemiek. But that one wasn't on You Tube. So I'm now showing you his dance for life from the week before. Enjoy!

By the way....I promise I'll show you something scrapbookish soon ;-)! I haven't been that creative last weeks, but I almost finished a book and I'll show you tomorrow.

My dad is cool!

About 40 years ago, my dad was singer in one of the most popular cover bands in our region. They played all kinds of songs (Steppenwolf, Them, Rolling Stones etc.). They played in every bar and club around here. They had a big entourage of fans that went to every gig! In the end this was also their downfall. No bar owner wanted to book them anymore, because of the entourage trashing the place in their enthousiasm. I mean...my dad was so cool! Groupies tearing of his shirt and everything. Ha!
After all those years the band decided to hook up again and they had their first gig last Saturday. It was a reunion of all the old fans (and they sure were old :-)). Of course our family stood front row to see my dad (who's now 61 years old) sing in his old band El-cid! I was so proud of him!

Dirk took these pictures of my scrappin' habitat for the interview in CMF magazine. Silvia interviewed me for this mag! The magazine is in stores now, but I haven't seen the interview yet. I think I'm going to get my own copy tomorrow :-)!

I'm messy....but I guess this picture speaks for itself and I don't have to tell you I'm messy :-S...anyway...I am.

Some thing you will ALWAYS find on my scrap table: diet coke or water, stapler, edge distresser, kraft cardstock, scissors and Thickers!
You can sometimes also find me scrappin' in our bedroom, in our living room, in the garden, in the hall upstairs or at my store :-)! Have to be careful with those scissors on my waterbed though ;-)!

Here are three of the thing I made at the SIS crop some time ago. Didn't get around to photograph them until now :-). This first one is VERY simple! I like it this way and think the picture doesn't need anything more. The use of frilled strips of paper is totally inspired by the talented Jen Jockish (guest designer last Get Inspired kit). I used a picture of my cousin with her two wonderful boys.

I made a card with the leftovers from the layout!

I also started another layout at the crop, but I still need to finish that one.....

4th Dutch SIS crop

We had a blast at the SIS crop yesterday! For this 4th crop, Silvia asked me to join in on the organisation, so it took place in Veghel. Yaaay! We had tons of fun!!! I'll try to do my pictures this week and upload them here.
Iris and Lia did a "live-from-SIS-crop" on the message board on www.scrapinstyletv.com and they even uploaded a little video of us waving to the other SISters around the world! Hahaha!

Ohhhh....I had a bad case of "scrappers and bloggers block". I guess you all noticed. Maybe because I spent a lot of time thinking and doing fun other fun stuff. Lots of get togethers and parties lately, so I'm not complaining! :-) But I finally got to create something thanks to the OLW challenge. The word was CHOOSE and that was exactly something I wanted to scrap about. I have never joined in on this blog, so this will be a first! :-)
Oh and I need to ad...I used some items from the next Get Inspired! kit in this layout, but I'm not telling which ones. The kit will come out on September 6th.

I just got back from Lowlands Festival. It was great again!!!! I'll show you some more pictures later on, but for now I'll give you this picture of Pharrell. Yes, we stood THIS close to the stage :-)! We even touched him. Ha! N*E*R*D was the best performance of the festival in my opinion. "You can't be me I'm a rockstar!" he sang....and he sure is a rockstar!

I took my new smaller camera with me to Solar....so I wanted to take my very first picture with the new camera.......but it didn't work :-(.........maybe I should have put in the battery.....HOW STUPID!....it was still in the charger at home :-( Hahahahaha! So I jacked this picture of my sister's blog to post here. I'll take my camere (plus battery!) today for the second day of Solar fun. It's raining today though. So I'll put on my rain boots and poncho, which will be a garanty for very sexy pictures :-SJanneke, Yvonne, Lizzy and me chillin' at Solar Festival.

.....I'm going here! Yaaaaaaay! Solar is one of the best festivals of the year. It features a lot of great DJ's, artists and bands. But it's also loaded with creativity. It's not very far from our town, so I don't have to worry about not getting any sleep on the noisy campsite. I'm going home in between the two days of fun to sleep in my own bed. Perfect! I'm so excited!

Here's my entry for the new Scrapmojo challenge. Come out and play here! The colors in my picture are a bit off....I didn't have good lighting inside and outside it was pooring. I'll try to do another better picture later on.
We had to use the title "Say hello to my little friend" and glitter. I really do not like glitter, I'm not a glitter type of girl! But I managed to put it on my layout anyway, since the glitter letters by American Crafts are actually quite okay :-)!
The big hand on the picture is mine and the tiny one is Elia's (my newest family member).

Lazy Sunny Day

I know...I'm totally NOT fealing creative at all....maybe because it's hot and sunny and all I want to do is...well....nothing actually!....

My shop is closed on Thursdays during the summer, so I'm free!!! Eventhough I've so much stuff to do...I decided that I could get the day off anyway. Ha!

I just packed my new book (Karin Slaughter-Nachtschade), a box of sushi from AH, some watermelon, a bottle of water and a diet coke and I'm going to do "lazy day at the lake" today. And after that my husband is throwing a picnic in the park for our friends! Yaaaay!

I didn't edit my Barcelona and Ibiza photos yet, so nothing to show you in that department. But here's my scrapmojo challenge 17 that I didn't show you yet. It was put on the Scrapmojo blog the day I went to Barcelona. We had to use doodling and a line from a song Marie e-mailed us :-)
"We might be in need of some rain" is the line I used. But actually I think the opposite right now! What's up with all this rain in July!!!???? WE NEED SUNSHINE!!!! Ohhhh I want to go back to Ibiza where it's hot and sunny.......
My vacation was great by the way. Seen a lot, relaxed a lot, read a lot, eaten delicious food! I'll show you some nice pictures later this week.

We're leaving for Barcelona today! And after Barcelona it's going to be Ibiza for a week. Yaaaaaay! So I will not be blogging for a while.
I'm going to pack my suitcase now and clean my house, so the house sitter doesn't have to do all our dishes :-)

The wonderful Kim posted a great prompt on The Art is Found. It was : "Walk pictures". I made these pictures a few days ago. We went for a walk, picked up some Thai food at our favorite restaurant and had a picknick in the grass. I took one picture of me lying there in the grass, flipped my camera and took one of my view.

I made this card for the Get Bizzy Challenge "Fabric & Felt" and it's also my entry for the Crazy Amigo Challenge "Oldtimers". I didn't have a lot of time, so I combined the two :-)!
The car stamp is by A Muse and the text stamps is by Art Impressions. Bazzill cardstock Bubblegum, design paper by Jenni Bowlin and a felt flower by American Crafts. I bought the houndstooth fabric and the tule at the weekly market in our town.

1. I LOVE that it's warm and sunny outside. Had lunch in the sun with Klaartje today :-)!
2. I'm going to Barcelona and Ibiza soon! Can't wait!
3. We have a very very cool party coming up this Saturday!
4. I have a rash from some stupid caterpillar hairs that are floating in the air in the area where I go jogging! I hate caterpillars! They are called "Processie rupsen" in Dutch.
5. I've been thinking about chocolate all day today....and don't have any here....
6. We are redecorating our bedroom and it's going to be awesome! Yaaaay! We'll finish it after our vacation and then I'll show you.
7. I'm trying to drink a lot of water because it's healthy but I'd rather drink diet coke all day.
8. Seems like babies are being born all around me! And they are all boys! It's raining baby boys.
9. I hung out with my friends at De Republiek (beachclub) in Bloemendaal this weekend and decided to go there more often. It's so relaxing!
10. I need chocolate!.....but I'll settle for ice cream.....

Ok back to work.....101 things to do before I can go to Barcelona.....

Meet Elia Hamelijnck!

A new Hamelijnck boy was born on June 27th 2008! His name is Elia. It's the first child for Dirk's brother Harrie Jr. and our sister in law Marlène. Elia's second name is Bart (after Dirk and Harrie's brother, who die a few years ago).
We went to meet Elia yesterday evening. He's so tiny and cute!!!!

I bought this cute cross stitched bag on sale yesterday! I love it! Klaartje and I couldn't wait to get creative with these new October Afternoon papers. Awesome new lines! I made a 9x9 inch story book for bedtime stories :-). Check the cards Klaartje made here!

I bought this new N*E*R*D album yesterday :-)! I'm still not into downloading Itunes or whatever. I still like to own original cd's with the cd box and the booklet with cool graphics and stuff.

I also wanted to get the Kate Nash album, but it was sold out at my local store. So that's the next one I'm going to buy. Love her music!

The new prompt for The Art is Found blog is *MAGAZINE/CATALOG IMAGES*. I love this blog by the way!!! I did this journal called "What IF". I'm going to write down all my home deco ideas in it and I can also add pictures of stuff that inspires me for decorating my home. I used two pages of a Dutch home deco magazine for the covers and some cardstock, tags and design scrappaper for the inside. Letter sticker on the front are by EK Succes and American Crafts.

My very first digital layout!

I'm not that much of a wizkid, but I just had to try the digital thing. So I did an online tutorial and bought the Vintage Appleseed Collection at the digital SIS boutique. I also used some other online freebies and some great alphabets I also got on SIS. I think I kinda like the digital stuff! Of course I still like the real thing better, but this digital is a nice thing to do once in a while :-)! And you can do it on your laptop, sitting in your garden or in bed. No mess at all!
This is Kim, Dirk's high school friend. She moved to the USA. after getting married to an Amercian guy. She visited us a few months ago. Such a sweet person she is! We didn't see her for years. Dirk made us dinner and we had a very fun evening with just the three of us.

I'm in a reading fase right now. Sometimes I don't read a book for months, but at the moment I'm reading a lot. So relaxing! I just picked up the English version of Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, so I'm starting to read in that one tonight I think. I finished "De reünie" yesterday, a psychological thriller by Simone van der Vlugt. Great book to take on a vacation! (Dutch though)

And I also read this one, Rendez Vous. Also a good one to read at the beach :-)! (also Dutch)

I need to buy more books before I'm going on my vacation. So let me know which books you loved and I should buy! Thanks in advance!

De Creatie in Den Bosch

Wednesday June 11th I went to Den Bosch with my mom, my grandma and Klaartje. A lovely day out to say thank you for all the work they do at my shop.
We did a cruise through the Binnendieze, went to lunch at Pink Lemon, did some shopping, had a delicious dinner at Picasso and then we went to see Fame! Wow what a great musical! We loved it!

Ever since I made that travel journal with the tipi on the cover (see in one of the posts below) I've been kinda obsessed by the idea of sleeping in a tipi for my summer vacation. And guess what?! I found a camp site on the lovely island Ibiza that has these real Cheyenne Sioux Tipis for rent. Yaaay! I wanted to go to Barcelona or Ibiza anyway, so I just made reservations for a week in a tipi. And it's close to a lovely beach in Ibiza. Oh.....I can see us sitting in front of our tent, relaxing, reading a book! I'm so excited. Ibiza is great!
Now I need to book a flight, which is not that easy, since a lot of flights are alreayd fully booked...But I'm confident I will find a ticket! :-) Gotto go now....have to teach a workshop today.

Here are some pica's of last Sunday. My mom won 8 free tickets to Movie Park in Germany. So we had a great day with my sisters, some cousins and a friend. Great fun!!!

Sex and the City

Last night Sex and the City The Movie premiered in Holland! So I went to see it with my sisters and a cousin. There was a ladies night in our theater with a bridal fashion show, cosmopolitan cocktails, hors d'oevres and goodie bags! Me likey!!!! I didn't know what to expect of this movie. But I LOVED it!!!!!

Today I'm going to Den Bosch with my grandma, my mom and Klaartje. A lovely day out to say thank you for all the work they do in my shop. We're going to do a boat trip, a lovely lunch/high tea at Pink Lemon, some shopping of course :-), nice dinner and after that we have tickets to go to the musical Fame. So excited! Have to get dressed now. We'll be leaving early!

Travel journal summer 2008

I made this travel journal for our summer vacation. I'm not sure where we are going yet, but it I think it will be a Spain-tour around Barcelona.....or maybe it will be Ibiza....or France. As long as it's sunny and beautiful it's fine by me! Were probably going camping so I thought this tipi picture was just perfect for my journal cover (it's from the Toast catalog home & garden).

And here's a video I like :-)! Roisin Murphy used to be in the band Moloko. She's solo now and I like her very very much. Her singing, her style. Love it! She's also going to be at the Lowlands festival. Yaaaay!

I used a page from a Toast catalog, letterstamps for the word ZEN are Pink Paislee, Circle stamps by Hero Arts, Staple stamps by Stampers Anonymous, ribbon is by Prima Marketing (love the new ribbons!!!), Gaffer tape by 7 Gypsies.

Challenge for this one was:

My journaling:
IT'S A GOOD THING...that I did not go to that boring meeting and stayed at our "last-day-of-school" party! Cause that's where I fell in love with you....That was 14 years ago today!
I used paper by Jenni Bowlin and Sassafras Lass, red polka dot fabric and the alpha stamps are Pink Paislee.

High tea at Yvonne's place

My sisters arranged a very yummie high tea last Sunday! Yvonne got new cups and plates and tea pots and sugar pots and.....well everything by "Blond Amsterdam" and she wanted to use it. So she and Lizzy threw a tea party for our family. The boys were all occupied, so it was just the five of us like in the old days :-)! I love all of them to pieces!
